What is the typical format of the event?  Micro Contribution campaigns are typically centralized, like photography campaigns, while encouraging local organizers to invite their audience to that central campaign.
How long do the campaigns last?  At least 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer.
How do the organizers target the audience? Organizers typically target new or easy to train audiences, with a focus on finding people who will find the micro-contribution exciting.

What is the typical impact of these events?

Content gaps -- Newer editors will be helping improve existing content typically, helping improve

Contributor gaps - Microcontribution campaigns have the greatest impact on retention of editors: by building a habit of editing for editors who are learning how to edit Wikipedia, and finding ways to contribute consistently and repeatedly.

Reader gaps - edits related to microcontribution campaigns, improve the overall quality of Wikimedia content, in theory making the content more accessible to more readers.

Challenges Micro-contribution campaigns tend to create environments where some contributors make many edits without reviewing the quality of their edits. This can create conflict in some of the bigger editing communities (like English or French Wikipedias) where the editing community is focused on quality of edits.
