The most successful examples of Micro Campaigns have been #1lib1ref and #WPWP. These campaigns have two different audiences, librarians and newish contributors to Wikipedias, however the design of the campaign is similar.
#1lib1ref
#1lib1ref relies on the ease of fixing a “citation needed” on Wikipedia. By focusing on a small action (adding a reference) and supporting an audience that knows how to do research (Librarians), the campaign makes contributing simple.
Recent innovations in the campaign, have focused on decentralizing the campaign to support different regions, such as African Librarians Week in Africa and #1bib1ref. By making the campaign more regionalized, each community can do outreach to library audiences; they target actions that make sense for their own contexts.
