Besides the writing contest and photography campaign, one of the most impactful types of campaigns are campaigns that call for decentralized editing events, such as editathons or newcomer workshops. These have been most successful organized around the Gender Gap: Wiki Loves Women, Art+Feminism and WikiGap all are organized around this model. 

Typically these campaigns focus on new editors and organizers, and empower new organizers to run local events with low risk. In order to effectively run one of these campaigns, organizers need to be ready to support events in many locations and geographies.
