Decentralized content drives create some of the same incentive structures of Writing Contests (create x amount of content, to fill a content gap and get acknowledgement for that work), but decentralizes it through separate events on separate language Wikipedias. 

The two largest decentralized content drives, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Asian_Month" target="[object Object]">Wikipedia Asian Month </a>and <a href="https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_CEE_Spring_2022" target="[object Object]">CEE Spring </a>both focus on experienced editors translating and creating content about other cultures in the same region. Some of these campaigns have been run more like competitions, for example <a href="https://wikimediafoundation.org/news/tag/project-tiger/" target="[object Object]">Project Tiger</a>, had prizes for top contributors. Also, because these campaigns have more leaderboards or opportunities to be acknowledged (each language sub-campaign can give a small reward), new editors are more likely to be acknowledged.
