Not only are there potentially 1000s of different types of knowledge gaps, but also knowing that they will have an impact (that someone will need the information, and use it on Wikimedia projects) can be challenging. Once you have identified a knowledge gap-- it is important to identify what kinds of frameworks there are in the world for that topic area, so you can identify where to start filling that gap. We hear from organizers that often it's hard to develop a list of impactful, focused topics for participants to contribute to during events or campaigns.
