Wikimedians run campaigns and editing events almost year round. You have probably participated in a Wiki Loves Event, an onwiki contest, or an editathon as part of some other global campaign like WikiForHumanRights or WikiGap.

Sometimes, the simple editing events (like Editathons or Photo Walks) are not a good fit for the audience or topic you are working on. Instead organizers choose other kinds of calls to action or topics to increase the impact of their organizing approaches.
