Transformative impact -- using expert opinion about important topics<img height="169" width="300" src="/static/FfSQpi4XEAEEvI_.jpg" alt="An event organized by Wikimedia Argentina focused on LGBTT+ topics" style="float: right;" />

One way of identifying topics is to rely on indexes or surveys of expert opinions about the “most important” topics that influence public conversations.

For example, as part of the Human Rights Program Wikimedia Argentina has worked with LGBTQ+ activists to rewrite articles about key concepts in gender and LGBTQ+ identity to represent the latest scholarship. Though these articles are not as popular on Spanish Wikipedia as other topics, like Football or Film, the people reading about LGBTQ+ topics on Spanish Wikipedia are more vulnerable to mental health issues and discrimination if their identities are not reflected in accurate ways online. Focusing on these topics because experts have identified them as important way to meet a reader audience that needs the content.
