Groups traditionally left out of the systems of power, such as indigenous people, cultures with traditions not documented by colonial systems, or communities that historically left out of systems of knowledge production, like women, LGBTQ+ or African Diaspora communities. These groups face compounding, systematic challenges when being represented on Wikimedia projects: for example, their cultures and traditions often don't have a documentary tradition that “works” in the content model developed by the earliest Wikimedia communities.

Remember, Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects were formed by contributors focused heavily on Euro-American publishing traditions. The main building blocks of Wikipedia, for examples, is sentences with citations to scholarly, journalistic or other expert published materials.
