Unit 1 focuses on understanding what Topics for Impact means for the Wikimedia Movement and how that broad concept of Topics for Impact helps us identify specific knowledge gaps on Wikimedia projects. By understanding knowledge gaps, you can help your experienced and new Wikimedia communities better contribute to our collective effort of curating the "sum of all human knowledge". 

This next unit (Unit 2) will ask further questions about how we identify these gaps, by exploring the theme of this course: hender and climate change. At the end of the unit, in preparation for Unit 2, the main assignment for Unit 1 will be to identify topic gaps related to current issues in your context related to climate change or gender knowledge gaps.
